Abstract:
Interactive discussion among panelists and attendees regarding the challenges of creating and maintaining HPC application software for a competitive, corporate “production” environment, the state of the ISV application software market, and the role of government, universities and national laboratories to help accelerate development of new and/or updated code.
Discussion will also draw on Council on Competitiveness/DARPA Study of ISVs (http://www.compete.org/hpc/hpc_software_survey.asp), which found that the business model for HPC application software has almost evaporated and lack of scalable application software is impeding more aggressive industrial use, and national competitiveness.
