Student Days @ SC|05

Open to the first 60 registrants.

Who should attend: Undergraduate students interested in HPC.

The SC2005 Student Days component complements the Conference and runs Monday, 14 Novermber and Tuesday, 15 November.

The SC2005 Student Days Program focuses on undergraduate students, and emphasizes high-performance computing, internships, graduate school opportunities, fellowships, and the career opportunities in education, research and industry. Learn about the topical areas in which young researchers are engaged, and most importantly, network with experts in the field.

Student Days registration fee is $25 and includes lunch both days, transportation to Microsoft Redmond Campus, tours, career fair, and access to the Exhibit Hall.

Technical Talks: Learn about product development, code, simulation and modeling from Microsoft and laboratory experts. Tour of Microsoft Redmond Campus and Microsoft store included.

Graduate School Panel: Panel members include representatives from ASC Tier I graduate schools, local and regional graduate schools, fellowship/scholarship reps, and other graduate students. Topics range from how to apply to graduate school, letters of recommendation, how to apply for a fellowship, how to get financial aid, and how to find a mentor.

Young Researcher Panel: graduate students, post-docs, and recent faculty are invited to present their research and discuss how they entered grad school, identified an advisor and project, and offer recommendations. ASC Tier I schools, fellows from the Computational Science Graduate Fellowship Program, Hertz Foundation, National Physical Sciences Consortium, GEM, and local schools will serve as presenters.

Career Fair: Industry and academia are invited to host a table at the Career Fair to showcase exciting opportunities, recruit, interview, and hire. Students are encouraged to present their resumes, and to focus on what educational assets are required for the career of their choice.
