SC|05 is the premier international conference on high performance computing, networking and storage, sponsored by ACM and IEEE. Register now at http://sc05.supercomputing.org!

SC|05, under the theme "Gateway to Discovery," will be held November 12-18, 2005, in Seattle, WA.

New Technical Forum to Provide 10-Minute Slots for SC05 Attendees
Among the new programs debuting at SC05 in Seattle will be "Scatter/Gather," a daily series of 10-minute talks open to anyone registered for the technical program. Think of it as Open Mic for techies. For exactly ten minutes the stage is yours to expound on any relevant SC|05 topic. The informal sessions, to be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, provide an opportunity to present brief summaries of new or ongoing work -- or even just the outline of an idea.

Signups are limited and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, with sign-up sheets near the conference registration area. Be forewarned, though: The 10-minute time limit will be strictly enforced and will include all setup time. So, if you plan to use a laptop projector, come to the session early so you are ready to start on time.

Student Days Registration Now Open
Registration is now open for SC05 Student Days to be held November 14-15. This program showcases careers and educational opportunities in HPC and is especially targeted toward undergraduate students. Monday's program will take place at Microsoft's Redmond Campus and include tech talks, tours, graduate opportunities and young researcher panels. On Tuesday, activities include a guided tour of the exhibit floor and a career fair. The registration fee of $25 includes lunch both days, transportation to Microsoft from the Convention Center, and admittance to the exhibit floor. Students are responsible for travel and accommodations.

Initial SCinet Connection Requests To Be Submitted by October 1
SCinet is the collection of high-performance networks built to support the annual International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking and Storage (SC). SCinet features a high-performance production-quality network, an Open InfiniBand (OpenIB) Network and an extremely high performance experimental network, Xnet.

Any new requests or modification to existing network or OpenIB connection requests made after October 1, 2005 will incur an additional $1000 late fee. Specification of the drop points for existing individual connections may be modified through October 23, 2005. There is no penalty or charge for relocating drop points through this date.
