StorCloud Challenge and Application Deadline Extended Until June 30
StorCloud is a special initiative for SC|05 to build a High Performance Computing (HPC) storage capability showcasing HPC storage technologies (topologies, devices, interconnects) and applications. StorCloud's architecture will support many different classes of storage-intensive applications, including massively parallel scientific applications, information management and search applications, data mining and performance evaluation tools. Applications in all of these categories are encouraged. In particular, developers with applications currently limited by storage bandwidth and/or capacity are encouraged to come to SC|05 and push the envelope with StorCloud's unprecedented capacity and bandwidth. The submissions deadline has been extended for the last time until Thursday, June 30, 2005. Application submissions can be made at http://www.sc-submissions.org.

Due to Surging Interest, HPC Analytics Extends Challenge Deadline to June 1
Due to an overwhelming response, the SC|05 High Performance Computing Analytics Committee today announced the extension of its application deadline to Wednesday, June 1, 2005.
Join prestigious analytics gurus from around the world to demonstrate your application in the SC|05 HPC Analytics Challenge. The HPC Analytics Challenge is a competition honoring select technical and commercial applications that use leading-edge analytics techniques to solve complex, real-world problems. It is a unique opportunity for researchers, engineers and analysts to showcase innovative techniques of rigorous data analysis (e.g. forecasting, data mining, optimization, predictive analysis) and high-end visualization (e.g. dynamic modeling, real-time rendering). Full applications for the HPC Analytics Challenge are due no later than June 1, 2005. Please go to the SC|05 submissions site to register (http://www.sc-submissions.org/).

Education Program to Accept Registration Through June 30
The registration submission deadline for the SC|05 Education Program participants has been extended to Friday, June 30, 2005. The announcement of team selections has also been extended to July 15, 2005.
The SC|05 Education Program will offer a unique learning experience for teachers and students in Seattle this Nov.11-15. With the guidance of top scientists and pedagogy specialists, undergraduate faculty, educators (grades 7-12), and students will complete an on-site research project and develop new teaching modules that involve the use of high performance computing. Participants will attend tutorials focusing on various aspects of how high performance computing can be applied to classroom instruction.
Topics include nanotechnology, life sciences, visualization, earth and atmospheric sciences, computer science, mathematics, chemistry and physics. All instruction will be integrated with national and state science and mathematics teaching standards.
